Set hundreds of years before the original game, players utilize action cards to manage resources, collaborate with others, and influence city development through a dynamic auction mechanism. ## Description Founders of Gloomhaven is a competitive tile-placement, action-selection, city-building game in which each player controls a fantastical race working to build the city of Gloomhaven and gain influence over its residents. This is a standalone game set in the same universe as Gloomhaven. The events, however, take place hundreds of years before Gloomhaven and depict the original construction of the city. Review: Terrific Game - The quality of the game is better than most games at this price point. I have purchased 50.00 games that were made like this, yet somehow, this game creator provided the same quality at half the price. The game pieces are thick hardened cardboard, there are small bags in the box to organize the pieces once you remove them from the card stock. It's heavy duty, thick and the graphics (colors) are wonderful. Nice game! Now to play it :) Review: great game if you like gloom haven - my one tip is make sure you buy a orginizer it will save hours of time on setup. i like this game especially becuase it has a solo option to play that is pretty fun. ## Features - Founders of Gloomhaven is a competitive tile-placement, action-selection, city-building game in which each player controls a fantastical race working to build the city of Gloomhaven and gain influence over its residents. This is a standalone game set in the same universe as Gloomhaven. The events, however, take place hundreds of years before Gloomhaven and depict the original construction of the city. - In Founders of Gloomhaven, players use action cards to place resource buildings on the map of the city, use these resources to create more advanced resources, then deliver them to proposed building sites to earn prestige. An individual player, however, cannot do everything on their own because they can import only a small number of resource types, depending on their race. To create more advanced resources, they have to work with other players. - The game also features an auction mechanism in which players vote periodically to determine which new building proposals come out and where they are placed on the board. Players can also add the influence they've gathered to increase the strength of their vote. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B079HHCWVG | | Age Range Description | Adult | | Best Sellers Rank | #581,567 in Toys & Games ( See Top 100 in Toys & Games ) #13,998 in Board Games (Toys & Games) | | Brand Name | Cephalofair Games | | CPSIA Cautionary Statement | No Warning Applicable | | Color | Multi | | Customer Package Type | Standard Packaging | | Customer Reviews | 4.6 out of 5 stars 225 Reviews | | Edition | Standard Edition | | Educational Objective | developing cognitive skills through strategic gameplay | | Genre | Tactical | | Global Trade Identification Number | 00752830522268 | | Included Components | Game | | Item Dimensions | 12 x 12 x 4 inches | | Item Type Name | Founders of Gloomhaven | | Item Weight | 0.45 kg | | Manufacturer | Cephalofair Games | | Manufacturer Part Number | CPH0301 | | Manufacturer recommended age | 12 years and up | | Material Type | Paper | | Minimum Age Recomendation | 12 | | Model Number | CPH0301 | | Number of Items | 1 | | Number of Players | 4 | | Operation Mode | manual | | Set Name | Gloomhaven | | Size | Medium | | Supported Battery Types | No batteries required | | Theme | Action,Race | | UPC | 752830522268 | | Unit Count | 1 Count | ## Images ![Founders of Gloomhaven - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61glb0nPQjL.jpg) ## Questions & Answers **Q: Should this game be played before starting gloomhaven core game?** A: You do get an extra city event card for Gloomhaven when you play so that’s neat. If you are going to play both anyway, I think you might as well start with this game just to get some background on the races and the city (at least reading the race cards from this game). But as others have said Founders isn’t necessary to play Gloomhaven and the gameplay is completely different. **Q: What is the minimum/maximum number of players that can play?** A: Board games geek says it is 1-4 players. https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/214032/founders-gloomhaven ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Terrific Game *by D***R on December 20, 2018* The quality of the game is better than most games at this price point.
