## Description

Gorgeously remastered for the very first time in 3-D by 3-D Film Archive! Film noir legend Edward G. Robinson (Scarlet Street, Night Has a Thousand Eyes) spins The Glass Web—the ultimate in shocking 3-D suspense! Television writer Don (John Forsythe, In Cold Blood) has been having an affair with ice-cold actress Paula (Kathleen Hughes, Three Bad Sisters) while working on the weekly authentic TV show Crime of the Week. When Paula demands a ransom to keep the affair from Don’s wife (Marcia Henderson, All I Desire), he agrees. However, as he arrives to deliver the money, he finds Paula dead. Soon, the show’s researcher, Henry (Robinson), proposes that their next episode should reenact Paula’s murder…and that he has incriminating evidence against Don. This twist-filled noir classic was filmed in three glorious dimensions by legendary director Jack Arnold (Creature from the Black Lagoon, This Island Earth, The Incredible Shrinking Man, The Tattered Dress).Special Features:• 3-D Restoration by 3-D Film Archive• NEW Audio Commentary by Professor and Film Scholar Jason A. Ney, with 3-D Experts Mike Ballew and Greg Kintz• Includes the 2D, Blu-ray 3-D AND Anaglyphic (Red/Cyan) 3-D Versions with One Pair of Anaglyphic 3-D Glasses• Theatrical Trailer (2D)• TV Spots (2D)• Optional English Subtitles

Review: Excellent Movie, SUPERB 3D Restoration - Can Be Watched by Anyone - I am 100% pleased with this disc. 3D discs, especially those restored by the 3D Film Archive, have been getting better and better and this is one of the best I have seen. The disc comes with the standard (electronic) 3D version (which requires a 3D television or a 3D-capable projector along with electronic 3D glasses), a 2D version (playable on any television set) PLUS an anaglyph (Red/Cyan) version, also playable on any television set and viewable in full 3D. The disc (along with others featuring anaglyph versions) comes packed with only one pair of glasses. I think this is rather mean: I'm sure very few people watch movies alone but fortunately desertcart offers an inexpensive solution: which currently sell for only $9.59. These are made of cardboard but are of very high quality (I bought a set of these some months ago) and each of them can be used and re-used many times (I have done this - we're still using our first two!). With my electronic 3D glasses I was able to see NO "ghosting," a flaw seen on some older 3D discs (though not many recently-released ones) and, with the anaglyph glasses, I saw only a couple of these "ghosts." Well, that takes care of the technical details. Now - how is the movie? It's a terrific "noir" film. If you are a fan of this genre (and even if you are not) I think that you'll be intrigued by this picture. This film is an excellent example of what life was like in this country and what television was like at mid-century (the 20th century). The story is superb and the acting (with excellent actors and actresses - Edward G. Robinson, John Forsythe, and especially Kathleen Hughes as well as all the rest - who are all of the highest caliber) is also superb. The direction is first-rate. The tension is palpable. Plus you'll really get a kick out of the reproduction of cigarette commercials (ubiquitous in the early television days, they were banned in 1970)! My wife and I loved this film. We received it on March 25, 2025 (the day it was released) and we have watched it twice so far. Obviously we are enamored with it and I am sure that you will be too. There is an excellent (and I mean EXCELLENT) commentary track by Jason A. Ney and 3-D Experts Mike Ballew and Greg Kintz, and this track includes a clip of an interview by Alan K. Rode with Kathleen Hughes, the only surviving cast member* (and a true delight to hear: she mentions how she was asked to help test the 3D camera for Universal; she says she was picked because "... I was very 3-dimensional ..." What a delightful lady! That quip is almost worth the whole price of the disc!) Truly, I can say nothing more than - BUY THIS DISC!!! I'm positive that it will become one of the treasures of your collection. And remember - YOU DO NOT NEED A 3D TELEVISION OR PROJECTOR to watch this film in 3D (and its superb 3D cinematography is something everyone really needs to see). Even in 2D it's a very good movie and the commentary track is one of the best. EXTREMELY AND URGENTLY RECOMMENDED. Thank you for reading this. Lawrence H. Bulk *Ms. Hughes passed away on May 19,2025 at age 96.
Review: Good Thriller - I mainly got this for the 3D and since it was directed by Jack Arnold (Creature From the Black Lagoon, It Came From Outer Space) and starring Edward G. Robinson, I decided to give it a watch. It's a good story and suspenseful. Excellent 3D. A great film to watch on a stormy Saturday night.
