I previously had a 2L cold brew cylindrical glass jug that works but has a plastic handle that feels like it could snap from its own weight. It also barely fits in my fridge due how tall it is. This one works much better for me thanks to the relatively compact rectangular shape, short height, and much sturdier handle. While it only tops out at about 1.2L, this is more than enough for me. Takes me like 3 days to finish that amount of coffee. The most noticeable difference is the weight. This now feels more like taking out a carton of milk than a 10lb dumbbell. Very happy with this cold brew pitcher.

This 41oz cold brew pitcher offers precise coffee strength control using marked measurements for 60g to 120g of grounds, allowing customized concentration. I have an on and off again love affair with cold brew coffee. Not being tied to any particular weather or season, I will drink it all year around. But it do find I over indulge and then need a break from it for a while. Having just gone back to drinking it, this cold brew maker from Maestri House arrived at about the perfect time. I am thoroughly impressed with this maker! From the great filter basket whose fine mesh truly is fine and whose design goes from top to bottom of the jug. The filter basket also has a 2 unique, to me, features where the base of it opens to allow for a much easier clean out of the used grounds and has an integrated fold down handle for inserting and removing the basket. The rectangular shape of the jug which has the graduated markings on the side, to the fact that once sealed, this has proven to be leak proof. I do find that the snap shut levers for closing the lid are a bit stiff for my fingers for opening, but I discovered that the stand base of the included grounds measure spoon acts as a handy lever for help with opening the handle side lever. All of these features are improvements over my previous cold brew maker. And this one is much more cost effective in comparison! Loving those graduated markings which really simplifies making a batch of whatever you are brewing. I was a bit taken aback by the instructions to lay the maker on its side once you have filled and inserted the grounds filter and sealed it. This just seemed so counter intuitive at first. But this did prove the jug did not leak. And the resulting cold brew was so good! Of course the quality, quantity and type of grind, and coffee choice all are contributors to this result. The shape of the jug alone would make this a winner in my books. Fitting so much nicer and sleeker into the door of my fridge endears this jug to the entire household. And the quality of the entire system seems top notch. From the mesh, to the seals to the thickness of the jug walls. A 10 out of 5 stars!

I really wanted to like this - in fact, I still do like it, it just needs some minor improvements to be a 5 star product. It all feels very solid and well thought out. It’s elegant and fits nicely in the fridge. It even comes with cleaning tools. However, I immediately noticed that the clips holding the top to the pitcher are not very secure - they don’t snap positively into place. It holds together but not very reassuring. Then, as I was washing it after the first use (yes, it worked great, and was easy to empty the filter thanks to the removable end caps), I noticed that the top cap filter element was already tearing away from the plastic body - see photo. With a bit of gentle prodding, it pulled apart around a third of the circumference and then held securely the rest of the way. I think it’s just a case of being heated unevenly or misaligned a bit during the fabrication process but it’s disappointing. I am still going to keep using it (that top filter screen doesn’t really do much, as far as I can tell) and hope it was an isolated defect. If any other areas of the filter come apart, I’ll update this review. UPDATE: the seller contacted me after I posted my review and offered to replace the product for me. When the replacement arrived, I inspected the filter and saw no sign of separation or incomplete adhesion. The clips holding the pitcher to the top also seem slightly more secure. Based on the new product being free of flaws, and the seller’s proactive effort to resolve the problems that I identified, I’ve revised my rating to 5 stars.
