For your child’s bookshelf. This is a validating read for the adoptive person. Adoption is all the things and this book normalizes the experience for adoptees.

    Important book starting from young age

I have been searching for a book like this. I love that this is simple and age-appropriate for young children to read and is even written in rhyme which is super engaging. This book is so helpful in normalizing language, validating feelings, and introducing concepts related to adoption. We need more children's books like this written by adult adoptees. My child is still really young and pre-verbal but I'm already reading this book to her because I want to her to grow into these words. I recommend this book for any parent looking for their child to feel empowered and secure as they navigate the layers of their adoptee identity and journey. It is great also for non-adoptees, including teachers, family members, bio siblings, and all children in general, to learn how to be more inclusive and help counter some of the constricting mainstream narratives of adoption.

This is a great book to explain that you can feel both happy and sad about adoption. A theme that should be more prevalent in kids adoption books! Also the pictures are lovely. My son loved looking through it. Would recommend!
