**Q: is this rack stainless steel?**
A: Same here. Ours is 47 years old!  It is steel that was chrome plated. When steel is chrome plated it is first plated with copper to help the chrome plate adhere better. Ours has finally started to wear through the chrome and shoe the copper in places.  Guess we won’t replace it with this inferior version.

**Q: So what is the rack made of?   stainless steel, chrome or polished steel ...**
A: The description said it was chrome which means it’s plated and most likely the base material is mild steel. Not stainless but will perform as a cooking rack just fine.

**Q: Would this fit into a 7 quart oval Crockpot?**
A: No this roasting rack will not work with an oval 7 qt. Crockpot. It is slightly too long and the corners are not narrow enough to fit either.  For my oval crockpot I use an 8 by 6 inch OVAL rack. The beef roast, pork roast or roasting hen can be larger than the rack used as the rack is meant to just keep items out of the liquids.  This rack I purchased for my medium sized oval turkey roaster (12 lbs or less) and it works fine for that purpose.

**Q: What type of metal is this?  Is it aluminum like the pan shown with it?**
A: It's chrome plated.  If you want stainless steel then check out the ikea sutare roasting pan with a stainless steel rack.  The rack fits qtr sheet pan that you can use in a bov800 oven.  The rack works great.  Easy to clean and no rust or chrome.  The set is 12.99.  It took forever to find a stainless steel rack.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Perfect little rack

I recently acquired a 4QT Nesco roaster, but it did not have the original baking rack, nor does the manufacturer sell it as a replacement part (they no longer make this small model). I checked dollar stores and other retailers, no one had a rectangular rack small enough. This HIC 10"x6" rack is a perfect fit (see pic). While I would prefer to have one that is a full rectangle, the octagonal shape of this one does span enough of the cooking chamber and it works well. It's a fairly heavy weight metal so should last a long time. It will also make a good cooling rack for baked goods. Overall, I'm very happy with this item.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Rock Solid Roasting Rack,.  But ... is the Anti-Stick Coating Durable?

A desire to cook a better Christmas goose, I ordered this roasting rack. It arrived today (Christmas eve) and was immediately loaded with our 10.5 lb Christmas goose. The rack is very sturdy and confidence inspiring. Much better than the flimsy collapsible roasting rack I have used in the past. The goose cooked perfectly. Indeed, tonight's was the best Christmas Goose I've ever produced. I attribute much of this success to the rack. It is tall enough to keep the goose well clear of its copious drippings and still fit easily in my roaster. The handles each end made removing the cooked from the roaster an easy secure maneuver.The rack cleaned up easily. The nonstick coating does its job well. However, while hand-washing the rack (per manufacturer recommendation), I noticed spots where the non-stick coating appeared to have come off. I didn't expect this after one use. Hence, my 4 stars rating; this gives me reason to be nervous about the long-term durability of the rack's non-stick coating. The rack it self, I'm confident is sturdy enough to stand -- with strength in reserve -- a 20 lb turkey. I look forward that test.
