The surge (LRA) on start-up was close to 50 amps for a couple of microseconds. The board has 4 NTC 10D-20 current resisters to throttle the amps for an adj time delay and then switch to line power. All 4 NTCs burnt out. I did not adjust the delay time pot and I now realize that this was holding the resisters in the circuit for 4 -6 seconds which is way more than I need. The setting is 1 - 10 seconds and the factory adjustment is set in the middle of the range. The device uses a relay that runs on 12 volts to switch the high voltage A.C. current from the wall. The device takes the 120v from the wall, converts it to 12v to run its timer, and open and close the relay. It needs 12volts for it's internal operations to do this. Adding a 12v output for another use at the user's option probably adds about 17 cents to the cost of manufacturing, as a source of 12 volts is already present. I am frankly surprised that anyone purchasing this device would not understand this. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Works great to soft start big amplifiers *by E***R on Reviewed in the United States on March 16, 2022* Added this to an Adcom GFA-555ii amp to soft start the amp to save on the components. It works exactly as advertised. The 12V out was a nice bonus as it powered my speaker protection board I was also adding to this amp.Before, this amp would dim the lights on power up while the filter caps were charging with very high inrush current. Now it gently brings the amp up over a few seconds before clicking over to full mains voltage.Exactly as advertised!
