Thanks For The Cheap Price As Well.[I Paid MORE For Shipping Than The Book] ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rifts Mindwerks Review *by A***Y on July 13, 2011* I'm glad that when I first originally got this book and later having to replace it.... that I got Mindwerks before Triax & The NGR World Book. The Triax book focuses hugely on the Military Branch and the conflict they have with Brodkil and mainly the Gargoyle Empire. Everything else regarding magic, Rifts, D-Bees, Monsters exclusive to the German/European area is either marginalized so badly or just not mentioned. I come at the Rifts setting wanting to see the blend, mix and conflict of Magic & Technology, Monsters, D-Bees and all of that. Don't strip out magic from the setting and ignore it. Mindwerks fixed, for me, a lot of the problems I see with the Triax & NGR book where no new D-Bees, Monsters, Magic, ect was given. Just a huge focus on NGR and Triax. Which works as that is the focus and title of the book. Mindwerks gives us more of the view, world information and layout around Germany and what's going on. Why the NGR works so well as a haven and bastion for humanity in Europe. The first section of this book deals with Mindwerks itself, history and it's advances with M.O.M. technology, their equipment, new O.C.C.s and the Angels of Death and Vengence. Making them a pair of scary people to deal with. All very good stuff and show cases some of the other technology and groups in the German area. Next are the D-Bees of Poland & Germany, along with new monsters "native" to the area. And I like this, it helps to show more of the exoticness and strangeness. To really show that Germany and surrounding countries are populated by more then just Brodkil and Gargoyles constantly beating on the front door to NGR. We also have our first introduction to the Gene-Splicers and just what they can do. Because now you don't know if that monster is "natural" from the Rifts, a mutation or a creation of the Gene-Splicers and their endless tinkering and messing around with DNA. The Black Forest is discussed in detail, giving us the Evil Millennium Tree, thus connecting Rifts England to the rest of Europe and it's the first of the "strange magics" introduced for what's found in Europe. For those who are familiar with and read the RPG Beyond the Supernatural, the character Victor Lazlo is introduced and given stats. More information regarding the Gargoyles and NGR is given. Finishing out the book is the Kingdom of Tarnow, nestled in the heart of the Brodkil Empire and protected by the Tarnow Crystal (the Philosopher's Stone). In concept, I love that some basic research was done and to use historical reference of the occult and magic, integrating them into Rifts along with new magics. What I don't like is yet another Alien Intelligence behind the scenes and doing stuff. That's a little bland and boring. If you're going to do a World Book for Germany, this sourcebook includes everything that should have made it into Triax & NGR book.
