It has a leather flocking on the under sole. Thank you for checking and have a good day! **Q: Does the material stretch after breaking in?** A: They are actually pretty roomy before wearing. I’ve had mine for a couple months, they did stretch a little. The fit is true to size. I have a normal width so they fit very well even after a little stretching. Very comfortable, you won’t be disappointed. **Q: What is the "leather flocking sole" made of? Is it vegan leather?** A: I am wondering this too. I have an email out to the company. **Q: Are they non slip?** A: I have many JAMBU shoes and this style is not nonslip. The flat rubber tread styles are nonslip. I live on the East Coast and do not wear this style in ice or snow conditions because the bottom of the heel will slip. When I found them in the store, they only had a size 9.5. I tried them on and they seemed a little loose - but when I walked in them, and tried to pull my foot out with out unzipping, they stayed on perfectly. So, I can't say how my actual size 9 would fit, but the 9.5 was good and would accommodate some socks as well. I even put my thin orthotics inside and they were even more dreamy! I bought these to wear shopping - as they aren't hot and they are comfortable. Easy on/off. They're cute and don't feel like you're wearing "heels" - but you are definitely not wearing running shoes - you will clomp along a little bit. But I wore these to work with leggings and I got loads of compliments. One of my clients even asked for the style number so she could order a pair, too. The 8 looks like it's the same size/length as my other size 7.5 boots. This boot is a bit stiff and clunky to walk in, but not uncomfortably stiff for me. It probably depends on how much cushion you need in a shoe. I love the style and the wedge height, only draw back is they are quite clunky when you walk because there is no flexibility in the step. Definitely can't sneak up on anyone in these puppies! For someone who's not use to wearing heels of any sort i can honestly say these are one of the most comfortable pairs of shoes. I even walk my dogs in them! I love the roomy toe box where my feet can spread out and feel unconstrained. And the shape of the toe is just like a foot, much sexier than pointy or squared toes. There is a little extra room around the ankle which is fine since you can wear heavy socks or tuck in pants there. At first it was a little stiff in front where the foot bends up but it loosened up quickly and I don't notice it anymore. These are by far my favorite winter shoes! They don't feel hard under my feet like other boots i own from a different company. Give these a try.
