    Very Good Set

*by D***N on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 5 December 2010*

This set is very good value for money if you have niether Destroyer or Incipit Satan, even though i'm not a fan of the cover. You get a lot of very good tracks on one CD.Destroyer: This album is one of my favorite albums, on the turntable at least once a month. There are many artists that have contributed to making this album and it is also the first to feature Gaahl on vocals. The concept is obviously based on war, and inside the booklet / gatefold cover (if you buy the Vinyl edition) there are various images amongst pictures of barely readable war letters. The sound is very noisy, angry and loud from start to finish, with no instrumental / ambient tracks. It is an album that gets better with each listen, as fir a first time listener it can seem rather dull and repetitive. The album has expertly done synthesizers, high pitched guitar feedback, and sound effects (and there is good use of them). Many of the tracks are very fast, such as The Devil, The Sinner and His Journey (my personal favorite) and Om Kristen og Jödisk Tru.The first track (and also the cover title track), 'Destoyer' starts off very fast and noisy, with many distorted shouts, screams? from Gaahl, very fast guitars and drums that eventually ease down but it never loses an aggressive sound. The second track 'Open the Gates' starts off with Infurnus playing a guitar without drums or vocals, then the song progresses has a rather slow pace compared to other tracks on the album.'The Devil, The Sinner and His Journey' starts off very fast with synthesizers, constant drumming, distorted guitars and slow vocals, this continues throughout the entire track and then ends abruptly. An excellent track. The next track 'Om Kristen og Jödisk Tru' (English: About Christian and Jewish Faith) starts off very fast, fast drumming, guitars and vocals, after around half a minute the track has a slowish riff that starts as the track slows down and continues throughout the track, this one is not as interesting as the first few but it has its good moments. The next two tracks 'På Slagmark langt mot Nord' and 'Blodoffer' (English: On Battlefields Far North and Bloodvictim) continue in the same style as the fourth one, but with a rather dull, repetitive, industrial sound (especially Blodoffer). The Seventh Track 'The Virginborn' is the slowest track on the album, and is a very good one too. It is the longeest track clocking in at 8:15. It starts with a slow, heavily distorted riff followed by slow drumming and vocals. A number of excellent riffs follow and continue throughout most of the track. The eigth track 'Slottet i Det Fjerne' is a very well done Darkthrone cover, this is a very noisy track with a lot of high pitched guitar feedback, the track seems as if it was designed to sound unplanned, like a rehersal track. This track is not listed on the back of the CD / Vinyl.Overall this is a great album for anybody who is interested in high-speed, heavily distorted black metal, 92/100.Incipit Satan:This album is quite different from Destroyer as it is more experimental, less brutal and maybe more melodic. It has some dark, almost ambient tracks like An Excerpt of X and Will To Power, amongst more traditional songs such as the title track Incipit Satan. I feel that this is their weakest album, despite some good tracks it does not hold much interest. 80/100

First of all this is not a nuclear blast official release but a version by a south american label. The quality is not very good. The cd keeps skipping endlessly in the cd player. So as to most things cheap it seams better then it is. one giant missbuy
