I wish all textbooks were written using this format which makes it easy to handle, easy on the eyes with variable size fonts, bullets, white space, color and illustrations. I find it easy to go back and look up information for material that I already covered. Two chapters are dedicated to describing all the acronyms for the field. The rest of the book focuses on using the SpringCharts software program and gives you a good idea of what is needed for EHR and how all the pieces for a comprehensive patient chart fit together. I use this book for an on-line class and have been able to follow it without having to ask the instructor any questions. It is very suitable for self-paced learning and is also a good reference book. It takes you step-by-step through the software and you are learning it hands-on using a demo. There are many illustrations and screen captures that accompany the text. The book is well formatted and each section of a chapter has its own distinguishable font, bullet system and colors. It is easy to carry around and is of a manageable size. I do not have any background knowledge of EHR and this book has helped me learn a great deal about it, plus I now have working knowledge of a real EHR software program. It also gives you an idea of the intricacies of the functions and work flow of a medical office.
