So in case I figure out anything new, I will update. I had chilblains on my toes. I have them every other winter and they normally go on their own after a week or two. This year, my toes were exceptionally uncomfortable (they wake me up from sleep due to itching and burning sensation). This cream stops the discomfort and it stops it quickly (I'm talking minutes here), thus the high rating. However, I'm not sure that it helps treating them, although it doesn't claim to do so. If you have chilblains, and you want to get rid of that itchy, burning feeling, I highly recommend you use this product. FYI: I also tried witch hazel and calamine, and I still prefer this product.
