This gives it a really nice, dark blue - almost dark purple color - and the parts of my hair that are highlighted blond streaks get a nice teal color - it’s a pretty mix that I get lots of comments on! It lasts pretty well, but I need to wash my hair with cold water to keep the color - I also re-dye with this every 2-3 weeks, but it’s so easy! Thanks.** A: The turquoise is the most vibrant of the colors and it lasts the longest by far. You do not need to lighten darker hair but it will only tint over whatever color you have so if you want a bright turquoise result you'll need to lighten. I have ginger hair and I lighten my tips only and ombré the turquoise in. It's pretty easy to do. Just search you tube for bleach ombré tutorials. **Q: Is this permanent dye? How long does the color last, roughly?** A: It depends on your hair type, and how you treat your hair. For me, my colours last until I want to change them (roughly 3-6 months). If you blow dry your hair, or use styling products, or are in the sun frequently, the colour will last a shorter amount of time. If you want to extend the colour, wash in cold water (yeah, I know. eek!), avoid previously mentioned things, and add a little colour to your conditioner. If you need to get the colour out, you can wash in very warm water with a clarifying shampoo, a mixture of dawn soap and baking soda, or use a soap cap. (This involves a little bleach, so only do this if you really need to get it out.) **Q: I'm going for a light pink, what color would work best for dirty blonde? do i have to bleach it?** A: I would go with the cotton candy over this, if you want a light color. What I like: -easy to apply: I use a "paintbrush" looking brush with the rat tail handle from sallys, it makes applying the dye easier, and I use my gloved hands to smooth it out and make sure it's saturated. -color: It is a really beautiful dark blue, and when it fades, it looks great! Some colors fade out in funky ways, this one turns into shades of blues and greens, it looks really ocean/mermaid-ish to me. -lasting: I've been going about 6 weeks between dyeing lately. It does fade, but like I said, it looks nice when it's faded. Bottom line: favorite dye brand, favorite color from this brand, I'll continue buying this until I'm too old to get away with it. ;) I'm attaching a photo from the day I dyed it, as well as a photo after about 5-6 weeks of fading out (washing 2 times a week and using dry shampoo in between).
