I had no trouble with the dust collector falling off and it seemed a fairly tight fit although others had problems with it falling off. I don't mind a corded unit although the cord is not particularly long and you'll probably need an extension cable. I found the fast speed setting far too rapid and used either speed 1 or 2. Note, you have to switch the sander off before you change the speed setting. Make sure you align the holes on the sanding sheet with those of the sander otherwise the vacuum cleaning dust collector will not work. Overall, a cheap simple machine that sands things down just fine.
