I mixed all the ingredients together in one, greased the plates and cooked them till they looked done. It worked but I would have preferred clearer instructions.The instructions also say that it’s normal for the indicator lights to switch off and on during cooking, I assumed it would be the same as a waffle iron and the light would change when they are cooked but you cannot change the temperature manually on the pizzelle maker. I did not use the recipe in the instructions, didn't even look at it as I have my own. I make these and form them up to make cannolis too and they are so good! This is a traditional Italian cookie maker that is worth the money. The plates do need to be greased, a quick spray does the trick. The indicator light lets you know when the maker is preheated which is very convenient especially if you're making large batches. Pizzelle cookies are versatile so you can be very creative with them. This was a great purchase.
