The Volume One collection contains all of Def Leppard’s iconic 1980s recordings – On Through The Night, High ‘N’ Dry, Pyromania and Hysteria - with reproductions of the original packaging in both formats. Furthermore, this collection includes a replica 7-inch single and 3-inch CD of the band’s original independent EP, the self-titled The Def Leppard E.P.The Volume One collection also houses bonus material including Live At The LA Forum 1983, originally released as a bonus disc in the deluxe CD version of Pyromania, making this the first-ever vinyl offering of the complete show. This 2LP version comes with a new sleeve and inner bags. The box set also includes Rarities Volume 1 which has been specially compiled by Joe Elliott, containing rare B-sides and recordings from Def Leppard’s early years, all in a newly commissioned sleeve. Each album in the box set was mastered by longtime band producer/soundmaster Ronan McHugh and cut by Greg Moore. Housed in rigid boxes, the Volume One collection also contains a hardback book with rare photos by longstanding band confidant Ross Halfin and liner notes by Classic Rock’s Paul Elliott. I was not disappointed on the content nor the price. What I do not understand is the 1* reviews nor do I understand why you would buy this collection if you already have all the albums? This collection is an ideal introduction to this great band and the very reason for this collection's existence needs to be put into proper context. The music is not 1* nor is this collection. I looked at the contents before I purchased and also considered the price for the number of albums contained. I’m glad I did, remasters are good but the live album is worth the price of admission alone. It is among the best I’ve heard! One minor gripe, no lid on the outer box but that’s just ocd on my part. If you are new to Def Leppard, or need to update your collection this is the box set for you! Can’t wait for the next round! On a sad note, was listening to On Through The Night and realised, it was only 11 years later Steve Clark was gone.
