Due to some chemical changes in the zeolite caused by the reversal of polarity, and contamination by trace elements, the efficiency of the whole process slowly degrades over time, until a sufficient concentration of oxygen can no longer be performed. The exchange of new zeolite (in a cartridge form) restores the process to its desired level of efficiency. **Q: So my G5 unit was unused for over a year and now I’m getting column replacement notices.
