True it protects your rope when jumping on hard surfaces, like concrete. Downside is that it changes the weight and balance of the rope slightly, causing more trips and a less fluid swing of the rope. Also the protector tends to move on the rope when in use....sometimes the protector is not even hitting the ground. A fix is to wrap a thin layer of tape around each end of the protector to keep it from sliding. Not sure if I’d buy again. This one is a true speed rope. I love to workout and I wanted to add jumping rope to my routine. I purchased this one and I was pleasantly surprised. The rope is thin but seems durable. It's easy to adjust and you can achieve good speed as you build momentum when using it. This product has a great price and it comes with an additional rope and screws, so it's like you get two jump ropes for the price of one.
