Very good travel companion which is split into different regions with good guides and tips. I used this guide recently on my trip to Costa Rica and was not disappointed.

We found this book much easier to use for trip planning purposes than our DK Eyewitness book. Quite helpful.

This book was good for a high level summary of the regions. However it is out of date. Some of the info is just wrong. For example, it talked about cash for tolls. Our shuttle driver told us you could use credit cards, even Apple Pay at tolls. Some of the descriptions -- for example, la Ruta de los Santos, are so vague that they are no help at all. It referred us to a restaurant that was no longer there...fortunately the one that took its place was excellent. I'm not saying don't buy it. But DO supplement yourself with TripAdvisor and a better map than what is included in the book.
