Review: Accurate, Professional-Grade Pool Test Kit That Takes the Guesswork Out - I picked up the Taylor K-2005 Test Kit for my pool, and it’s a big step up from basic test strips. If you want reliable, consistent readings, this kit delivers. The biggest advantage is accuracy. The DPD testing method for chlorine and bromine gives clear, easy-to-read results, and you’re not trying to guess colors like you do with strips. It tests everything you need—free and total chlorine, pH, alkalinity, and calcium hardness—so you get a complete picture of your water. The instructions are straightforward, and once you run through it once or twice, the process becomes quick and routine. Each test is clearly laid out, and the reagents are labeled well, which helps avoid confusion. What I really like is the consistency. I’ve tested multiple times and get dependable readings, which makes balancing chemicals much easier. That alone saves time and money because you’re not overcorrecting based on bad data. The case is organized and keeps everything in place, making it easy to store and bring out when needed. It feels like a professional-grade kit without being overly complicated. Overall, this is a must-have if you’re serious about maintaining your pool the right way. Much more accurate than strips and worth it for the control it gives you over your water chemistry. Highly recommended.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Are the K-2005 and K2006 kits identical except for the chlorine test? Any other differences?**
A: I have the 2005 and it tests for chlorine too so not sure what the advantage would be with the 2006. It works for me. I have a 17' x 30' above ground super splash pool that I use it for.

**Q: Regarding the name of this kit. What does the "high" mean in Deluxe(High)?**
A: Taylor's High Range kits test chlorine from 1 to 10 ppm. Low range test kits test chlorine from 0.25 to 2.5 ppm.

**Q: Does this kit test for stabilizer and phosphates?**
A: Kit tests for pH, alkalinity, chlorine, calcium hardness, and STABILIZER. It does not check for phosphates. I have that done at the pool supply store.

**Q: What would 22-30 ppm chlorine look like on this test and would it skew other results?**
A: 22-30 ppm is extremely high and as a result your test sample would be dark purple to very red. Generally speaking it should be about 3-6ppm if using chlorine. You need to balance your sanitizer first before ph and alkalinity.
