Review: One of the best books to attain overall good health through practical ayurveda - We keep thinking about our physical health, our mental health is slowly becoming our priority (hopefully) but do we even consider our stomach as the most important organ of our body? (After our heart and the brain). This book tells us how our stomach controls almost everything and how an eating sense can give us a wellness sense. The Wellness Sense gives us an Ayurvedic perspective towards our wellness and health. It tells us how food plays a great role in every aspect of our lives, also how our emotional and mental health is extremely important for our physical wellbeing. It has explained everything in utter detail. A number of appendices have been given at the end of the book to give us a small list of what kind of food is the best for us. The title of the book is as witty as the last book I had read by Om Swami. The book describes what the wellness sense and other aspects of the same are. The cover is a beautiful mix of shiny and subtle that gives off the right calm yet catchy vibe. The language of the book is simple to read. Though a lot of Sanskrit words have been used due to the Ayurvedic outlook it has been explained very well. All aspects have been described well. The content of the book is a guide in a nutshell. I was amazed to see so many things being described so well. No useless examples, no self-praising and filled with knowledge. The Ayurveda has been backed up by modern science and this makes the book very different from the other typical wellness books. In the end, I would love to say that I, personally, have got an idea of how my body works. I now know what can be considered to eat and what I can skip on. I loved the part where the author has not prohibited anything. He teaches us about our body and leaves us with many choices. I recommend this book to anyone who is struggling with their health or wants to know more about their body for better functioning.

We have never been thought how to look after ourselves, all the years of organised pedagogy and all we learnt is some fit for nothing chemistry formulas and wonderful but really-what’s-the-point history. Personal well being from all three angles of physical, mental and emotional is so well covered in this book. It needs to be read, applied, re-read and applied further. Strongly recommend this book for anyone who wants to get started with the basics of Ayurveda, but not just walk away with the deep science with no practical guide to apply the knowledge in day today life. It is written in simple English, easy to understand, structured in short chapters with a very good flow from one to another. There may be some areas where the Ayurvedic science behind something could have been explained further and more elaborately. For instance, rather than saying “eating A will cause B in your body” the author could have gone in more detail to elucidate the reason why. But a curious mind can always read from other sources to further their understanding. Very good book for beginners and everyone should get a copy!

An Amazing and outstanding Book!! It’s very informative and in detailed knowledge is given in this book, not just our physical health but also factors responsible for our emotions and mental afflictions. I highly recommend this book to everyone, doctors and alternative health care practitioner. We all are so caught up in our busy lifestyles that seldom we have time to focus on our health. The information in this book not only clarifies lot of myths about food and its connection with our mind and emotions but also the practicality of the teachings of Vedic wisdom. A unique thing about this book that not only it provides information, it also guides us to be mindful and use the Yogic methods for erasing our Psychic imprints and much more. I believe that after reading this book and practicing what is guided in the book, I will become more focused toward my health, and a much fulfilling life. After reading “The Wellness Sense” I am able to recognise my physical, mental and emotional discomforts and working towards them independently without seeking help from anyone.
