It gave me a super sharp point without sounding like it was eating my pencil. I have several others that like to eat the pencils, and make the whole center core fall out. Not this. I don't know where this has been my whole coloring life. I'll be buying another one for back up. I can tell you that is the best sharpener for colored pencils that I have found. I also found out that if you sharpen colored pencils in any sharpener, follow up with sharpening a regular graphite pencil....it removes the wax and sharpens the blades..... **Q: Does this work with the albertch durer watercolor Faber Castell pencils?** A: Oddly, even the slot marked "colour grip" seems too small for my Albrecht Durers. You'd think since it's all the same company they could make it fit. I can sharpen them in the giant hole on the "universal" side, though that's actually too big, so you have to be careful about holding the pencil straight. **Q: Does this work well with colored pencils?** A: I have mostly Prismacolor pencils (Verithin) and love the Faber-Castell Trio sharpener for them. My calligraphy instructor recommended it and it works wonderfully for colored pencils and is supposedly better for them than an electric sharpener.
