And that's when I noticed the teeny, tiny black ON/OFF switch above the battery door. It was in the OFF position to save the batteries. Flip it to the ON position just before you sit down to read and your child will have a nice surprise at the end of the book as promised. My favorite thing about this book is that the very last page has twinkling lights but they only work with light so make sure you have a light source when you read it.
