Funny was the big local pc store just said they did a complete test blah blah on yet again a failed component. Long story short on big local - 5 items purchase and 5 items returned as failed - brand new. hd lasted 15 minutes and data recovery store confirmed doa. Got this to test and funny the customer was right and again a return and buy elsewhere. One them tools I have in arsenal that is there for when you need it even if used only once.

**Q: Just bought the item. Seems good but there's no instructions or manual. Can you provide something?**
A: Just plug the large plug to large jack on the tester. use the key to connect your PS will have either  20 or 24 pin. once thats in the lights will light if the voltages are there. Most PS units no longer use -5v so that prob won't be lit. with the large connecter still attached plug the additional connectors one at a time in to check the voltages on them.

**Q: What is the indication if the ps is dead?**
A: Simply either it doesnt work, or a reading is way below of the parameter

**Q: Does this have a sata polarity check? Sata moulding is designeded to fit only one direction. Some testers unfortunately allow flipping both directions**
A: This tester has SATA polarity check. Though the SATA cable can be conected both ways on the tester, there is onle one position in which it will work for testing. Even if you connect the SATA cable wrong at first, it won't damage the unit because there are testing contact only on a side of the SATA tester, and also the PCB is correctly isolated in case it is connected wrong. It really helps and the unit is high quality, by the way.

**Q: Dell power supply has remote turn on. How do you activate power supply for testing? There is no switch on power supply, pc turns on by button on front**
A: i believe this turns on power supply once it's plug in 
all my power supplies have a switch.
so if yours don't have one it should turn on automatically once plugged in

Standard easy-to-use and understand tester. Includes test of -12V of older power supplies. I'll be keeping it for convenience and the -12V. FALSE ADVERTISING The description says it supports tests for "+12V, -12V, +5V, -5V, +3.3V, and 5VSB" BUT, it does not test -5V. There is no room for that indicator on the screen. The description of the screen at the bottom even excludes -5V in the list of indicators. This device must have evolved away from the old -5V standard, but the description was never corrected.
