BAVIFY Sourdough Starter Kit, Banneton Bread Proofing Baskets Set

I highly recommend this kit if you want to try baking sourdough bread. I gave up long ago attempting.yeast breads because my few attempts resulted in brick making. So I have looked at the sourdough bakers in my life as wizards! When a snow storm left my grocery shelf bare of sourdough I came home frustrated enough to jump online and see what baking sourdough really entailed. It was a whole new vocabulary and a set of kitchen tools I’d never seen before. I imagined collecting those tools would be too costly for me. But I found this complete kit on Amazon that had everything I needed but bread flour. To my surprise, it cost less than the price of three farmers market sourdough loaves. So I ordered it and the flour and binge watched sourdough videos. When my kit arrived I carefully unpacked and studied all the pieces and the directions over a few days and arranged to get a bit of sourdough starter from one of my wizard friends. That was about two months ago and I am so very happy I swallowed my fear and pushed the order now button for this kit. If you are wondering whether to jump in and order this kit, do not hesitate. It has more than paid for itself and I happily skip the bread aisle at the store now. I have made round loaves, oval loaves, rolls, bread bowls, cinnamon raisin bread, biscuits, pancakes, scones and so many amazing things from sourdough. Every time I wash up the tools I’ve used from this kit after baking, I marvel at how well they work and how cool I think they look drying on my counter. I may not have mastered the perfect oven spring or crumb but we have eaten everything and it was all so much better than store bought. And… there is something so strangely satisfying and empowering about cutting into your own loaf of bread. Here is a picture of my latest loaf and a few of the tools I just grabbed out of the dish rack to prove they are being well used and loved. If you have ever considered baking sourdough, buy this kit, add some organic bread flour and discover that you too are a wizard!

These 2 rattan proofing baskets are perfect for making my sourdough bread. The sizes are perfect for depth, shape and self rising dough. the covers linings keep the bread dough at great room temperature as well easy to clean for the next use. They also add to the roundness of a loaf appearance. The natural rattan is very well constructed for long time use. Great value for the price.

I bought this kit when wanting to get into sourdough. it's useful but has a lot of loose pieces that are not useful and you won't use. Its more of a cute gift then something you should get for your own kitchen. it has everything it advertised and it good quality so I overall would buy again.

perfect kit for starting my sourdough journey!

I was a huge skeptic about the need to purchase bannetons and had been using plastic colanders I had purchased locally for the last year or so. My daughter bought one banneton for a Christmas present for me and I was pleasantly surprised that my bread had a better oven spring than I ever had with the colanders. I purchased this 2 pack and love them even more, they are the perfect size to help your dough rise upward instead of spreading. I've learned that, (at least here in high-altitude Colorado), I need to allow the dough at least 12 hours in the fridge for the cold proof. The liners are easy to clean, I rinse them out very well and hang to dry. Would definitely recommend.
