The elastic tops are wide enough to be comfortable and to keep the socks up all day without readjusting them. The toes are squared with a seam at the end but, with wearing, conforms to shape of the food. They are opaque, not see-thru, which is want I wanted. I wouldn't wear them with dress shoes but they're perfect for wearing with ankle boots and look great if used in colors that match the boot and the pant you're wearing. But I actually like them a lot. They are not too thin, like pantyhose; they are more like opaque tights. They work well with my sports/comfort shoes as well as my dressy flat shoes. The material is too thick for open toes heels, but you could wear them with pants and closed toe heels. The quality is very nice and they feel very comfortable on. They fit nicely over wide calves and go up all the way to my knees. And another great aspect is the fact that they don't come down all day long!!
