So, I really enjoy the timer feature. I don't do 'real' fusing. I mainly fire polish and make faux stones by stacking glass upon itself so I don't get into COE values. And this kiln works great for that. I also make flat glass from broken glass things to use in my other stained glass creations. So, I don't use this kiln the conventional way but it works great for me. Review: Great for beginners - It’s small and has limitations. Only a timer knob, no temperature controls. Used this to make some test pieces. I have a found that 15 minutes is perfect for a full fuse for 2 layers. I do know that it can fire as high as 1560 deg (possibly higher) and the manufacturer recommends firing for 15 minutes at a time... all kinds of fusing and metal enameling are suggested. So far so good 😊 ### ⭐ Breaking 3/4 of all projects I try to fire! *by J***N on June 6, 2022* I bought this kiln to do small fused glass projects. I've taken fused glass classes, and I both read the instructions and watched two of Fuseworks' videos on how to operate the kiln. It has broken MOST of the projects I have tried to fire in it! All but one had two layers. I tried two test pieces, both with two layers and they broke. You can see pictures of a few of the things the kiln shattered. The only projects that survive firing are ones that are square and have two layers that are very even (e.g., pic #2 of the green mosaic). Even that piece broke when I tried to slump it in a second firing (while following their video directions on firing it four times x 5 minute settings. It shattered with a minute or two. I showed the pictures to a professional glass artist, and she agreed with the reviews on Amazon--that the kiln is heating too quickly. I called the vendor, left a message, and they did not call me back.
