We have it outside on our deck, but our puppy continues to pull and tug to try to get to the grass. We are going to continue to try to train our puppy to use it outdoors and hope to be able to eventually train her to use one of them indoors when we're not home. I sure am getting tired of cleaning up shredded puppy pads.** A: I have 2-8 lb Chihuahua's so I am probably not much help in this department but I highly recommend this product. Having had larger dogs before you might have a problem if your dog likes to chew and gets bored one day. Maybe keep the dog crated while your gone until you teach him not to play with it and at 8 months he should be about ready to hold it for awhile. **Q: is there rubber on the bottom to prevent it from moving?** A: It has rubber feet on the bottom. I have two small dogs and I purchased two for each. When you buy two they include a plastic connector to make one big one. I wanted to give them a bigger target. I've had them since August 2014 and they work great!! **Q: Can I buy extra grates?** A: The gate sides have rubber stoppers that add about 1/2 inch. You would either have to look at matching them or physical lower or remove one side so they joined up next to each other rather than touching. I can not answer who easy it is to make it fit; I have mine mounted were a very small door would be.
