The sealed cups on the bottom of the mandolin really keep it in place while in use. I've used it for multiple vegetables and I really used it a lot with potatoes too make homemade scalloped potatoes. One day I will make potato chips because of how thin you can get those potatoes with this mandolin. Even the boyfriend loves it, and that is really saying something! The safety feature really got to me. You do not put your fingers near that incredibly sharp blade; and if you've ever used one of the older mandolines, you know you have to protect your little fingers before they get chopped off. I also enjoyed the convenience of how it folds up for easy storage.
