The slide in bottom means your tissues can't fall out if you pick up the box (the fit is quite loose but I've not found that to be a problem). You don't need to pick up the box to pull out a tissue as it's much more stable than when they're just in a cardboard box. The cover is also reasonably large compared to the dimensions of most similar boxes. I did have to cut my tall box of tissues down to fit but a standard sized box of tissues should fit easily. I think it could also work to just put the tissues loose in the box as it's smooth inside and not so big they'd get lost in there.
