This is a color wheel assortment of some of the darkest values Roche has to offer. The colors are deep and intense without losing their luminosity. We are frequently asked why Henri Roche pastels are so expensive. Its pretty simple Henri Roche pastel sticks are virtually pure pigment sticks. You will find that Henri Roche pastels are very unique in color texture and feel. Henri Roche pastels are formulated with pumice which allows for a greater concentration of pigment then most pastels. Other brands of pastels start out as a batch of white chalk; to which pigment is added. Henri Roche pastels however start as a batch of pure pigment to which pumice and a tiny bit of binder are added- so you are actual painting with pure unadulterated saturated pigments. There are only 2 ladies that have taken over the Henri Roche pastel legacy. They use the tools that were used 150 years ago and the same hand made style! I wish I could afford these pastels!!! After watching how these two ladies produce each pigment within each soft pastel is incredible!!! I would love to work with these two ladies but my eyes couldn’t keep up with all the beautiful pastels they’ve produced!! There are 150 year old pigments in alot of these pastels!! Worth the price!!!!!!
