This is not a book of asanas or yoga sequences. It is a collection of essays from mostly well known teachers, some of whom are certified long term Iyengar students and some who had more limited acquaintance with him. Each shares how their experiences with Mr Iyengar shaped their yoga practice and teaching. Some are almost reverential some are more objective. Iyengar is such an influential figure in modern day yoga practice that almost everyone practicing today has been affected either directly or indirectly by his innovations. His significance cannot be underestimated whether you agree or disagree with his approach. I was fascinated by these recollections , it helped to see him as a multidimensional individual.

A selection of highly respected and internationally renowned yoga teachers having attended a conference to celebrate  B.K.S. Iyengar 90th year and to raise money for his charity have each written a chapter as a homage and to acknowledge the unequaled contribution to the world of yoga and to each of them as individuals.  The content varies as does the knowledge and maturity of its contributors.There are some very detailed and erudite elucidations as well as personal anecdotes both touching and humorous.Whether you practice Iyengar yoga or have not even heard of Guruji, as he is affectionately known by his students is of no importance.This book offers a very diverse, educative and inspiring read.
