ハイクオリティ。やはり日本が誇る音楽家：山下達郎さんです。日本の音楽界・イージーリスニングのパイオニアである服部克久先生のストリングス　アレンジがあり、ああ～だからなんだ～！！と更に納得しました。ストリングスがこの曲をとてもとても光らせています。音楽って素晴らし～～～♪

「いい曲をいい音で」というのは達郎さんがラジオでも常々言っておられる事ですが、この「いい音」というのに意外と注意がいかない場合は結構多い。明らかに曲自体はいいのに、音質が曲にあっていないがために魅力が半減している、という作品に結構出会ったりするのです。それはミュージシャン側が、「この曲はこういう音質がいい」という明確なビジョンを持っていなかったり、もしくはそれを実際に行うための技術・費用がなかったりなど様々な原因があります。達郎さんの場合、最終的にCDにおとすまで、つまりリスナーの耳にどういう状態で届くかまで完全にクオリティ・コントロールを行うので、曲調と音質のずれというのがありません（あくまで僕にはですが）僕の中での今作のキモは「FOREVER MINE」でのピアノとストリングスの残響音処理、「MIDAS TOUCH」の全体的に乾いた音処理です。そして音の「奥行き感」も見事です。達郎さんは最近の音楽の音圧勝負的なのっぺりとした録音に、珍しく苦言を呈していましたが、今作を聴けば音の「奥行き」とは何かを理解することが出来るはずです。
