I would strongly advise you buying the green colour bin as our original grey purchase was not collected by our bin men and when challenged said they only emptied green bins! Hence we have now purchased a green coloured bin from the same company!! **Q: Could I use this as a small compost bin for food waste?** A: No it's bigger than that. I use it as a dog poo bin in the garden. I’m really pleased with it. It’s a decent size and perfect for my needs but small enough that it tucks discretely up a corner. The grey colour also means it doesn’t draw your eye. It holds 30 litres and comes with one compostable bag as it’s designed for food waste in areas where the council takes away food waste. For this purpose it would be ideal for a large family. However that’s not what I wanted it for so I’ve placed an ordinary small bin liner in it. I didn’t want it to start decomposing for obvious reasons.The thing I like best of all is the big locks tight shut and if it got blown over it wouldn’t spill its contents. I can really recommend this as a dog waste bin or as a food waste bin.
