Its 7-inch rod length fits Backersafe VC immersion heaters and other standard models, operating safely at 250 volts without the need for batteries. ## Description Backer 7" Standard Thermostat Manually Resettable The Backermatic BMST Thermostat is an ideal solution for retrofit to existing installations as it is possible to bring your old system up to the new standard by simply changing the thermostat. Alternatively it can be incorporated into any of our Immersion range (Backer type VC) to enable the Immersion heaters to meet the new standard. Our new range of BMST thermostats incorporate a secondary safety cut-out, which is independent of the main thermostat. The new thermostats have a second set of contacts which open and limit the water temperature to 98 degrees centigrade should the primary thermostat fail. The second cut-out is non-self-resetting. Now you get a Backer BT765 which doesen't insert so far into the heater but still seems to work. As far as I can see there is no thermal cutout within the BT765 and you are relying on separate cutouts in the heater. The pictures show two different thermostats, I need the first one.** A: The BMST7 shown in the first picture is no longer made - but stock still exists in the system. The BMST765 is the new version - the only difference being the head colour/style - as Backer now buy the heads from Cotherm. - This info is valid as at April 2023. But it didn't look like the photo on Amazon, which matched the one I was looking to replace. I assume this is because it is a more up to date version of the same model, as it had the same model number, but I found this very misleading.
