Allen begins with an explanation of pictures and symbolism at large and how we have used symbolism through the ages to help to explain larger concepts. From this point the book moves into an examination of the symbols that are used in the Entered Apprentice degree such as the cable tow, hoodwink and slipper and later discusses the meaning of circumambulation, relief and truth; leading up to the more important lessons in fellowship, overcoming obstacles, obedience and commitment. Recently, I was asked to be part of the Education Committee for our Valley, so I picked this book up again, and was blown away by the difference a few years makes when reading this book. If you are a Master Mason, and have not yet read this book, or have been a Master Mason, get this book, and read it. It is 90 pages long, but take your time to understand what is in t his book. It is a treasure trove of knowledge for the Master Mason.
