Tapo TC82 KIT 2K 3MP Solar Battery Outdoor Security Camera Wireless

A camera set up this cheap shouldn’t be this good!! Camera was very easy to install and adjust, app is so easy to set up and use and setting the motion detection zones couldn’t be simpler. Paired with a SanDisk High Endurance memory card (more expensive than the camera), I’ve got fantastically sufficient loop recording storage without any monthly subscription. Far better quality & value than Ring cameras we previously had. The picture quality is great day and night, even when in zoom. The solar panel addition keeps it charged up nicely. Great value for money, will be buying more to cover the rest of the house!

Brilliant CCTV Kit, Ive tried all makes and I now have 4 X Tapo TC82 Kits which work Excellent and battery % Always says 100% Kept charged by the small Solar panel supplied, The picture Quality is great and after the 30 Day free Trial storage just put a 16gb SD card or bigger gb into the camera and all your 24hr recordings are safe and can be played back easily on a APP on your phone.

Security cameras are a really useful and relatively cost effective investment for any home. The provide peace of mind when you are away and keep a beady eye on things for you. Unfortunately, they can be a pain to set up. We have several dotted around the house and outside but, up until this purchase, they have all been mains wired and a little tricky to position. I held off buying a battery powered camera due to fears about battery life, but there was really no other option in the location I wanted a camera, so I went for this Tapo TC82 with solar panel charger. After unpacking everything, it was a pretty speedy setup. Charge the battery to full, fix the camera in place, connect the solar panel, connect the camera to the home WiFi via the excellent Tap app. Battery charging aside, installation took around an hour. Picture quality is very good, motion detection is also good, although it doesn't detect beyond around 25m. That might be because the motion is directly towards the camera. I think if it had been 90 degrees to the camera, motion detection would have been a little further. Battery life has been good so far. Camera has been in operation for almost a month and the battery was at 98% when I installed it. It is now at 91% and that is with the solar panel facing NW in January! I think, as Spring arrives and the sun rises higher in the sky, the battery will be able to charge to 100%. I will, hopefully, update the review accordingly. Overall, very happy with it so far - I think that I am only going to use battery powered cameras going forward. Maybe if I need a motorised camera I will have to opt for mains power but the field of view on this is so wide that constant adjustment isn't really needed. The price point is also good, and none of the other Tapo devices we have around the house has let us down yet - it seems a very good brand and excellent value for money. Highly recommended. UPDATE: two months in, Mid March now, and battery is holding at 90%. Solar panel still facing NW with no direct sunlight as yet. Camera working beautifully.

Firstly, I've been really impressed by the solar charging - whilst it's south facing I had my doubts and didn't want to have to charge it manually... Its been up over a year and I've never seen it less than full! Quick and easy to install and setup and the app is really quite good, I've ended up using multiple tapo products as the integration is good. Only loses a star as the detention range is a noticeably shorter than it's wired companion despite being on the most sensitive setting.

I bought two of those cameras to check my driveway and my backyard just because i had children jumping the fence in the past, damage my cars and so on. I am impressed by the quality and features of those cameras. Especially considering how cheap they are and easy to mount. Privacy zones are great if neighbours ever complain about it i can turn them on. Also the adjustment of sensitivity and detection zones greatly improve the battery life as without changing the default settings i would get detections all the time especially in the driveway. This is not recording continously and i don't need it to. It's great when used with cloud service and i think i will pay for it, at least for the camera that's outside. I did add 128GB sd cards to the cameras just in case i need them. To format greater than 32GB storage to FAT32 use rufus.exe download it from the official website and then select the sd card and format it as non bootable Large FAT32. When you will insert the sd card in the cameras it will say its not properly formatted just press initialize and it will work. My only complain to those cameras are battery life. I installed them while on and the driveway one had a few detections that i didn't care for.. the battery is already down to 96% in 12 hours so i don't expect it to last as advertised unless there are no detections (there will be) However i expect the solar panels to help a bit as i do get a bit of sun in the last part of the day. If not, the driveway one has a very long type c usb cable, i can just unplug it from the solar panel and plug it in my portable battery which is really fast at charging. So no issues there. Happy so far i don't think i need anything more than this. But if i ever need serious surveillance i would go wired Also the wifi signal is surprisingly strong. I expected to need a wifi booster or something. There is some slight delay in relaying the live feed especially to the one that's in the driveway as it has 2 lines of signal instead of 3. Edit: really bad product overall, first of all the solar panels are useless, don't charge at all even if i get 3-4 hours of direct sunlight. The motion detection is horrible. It goes all over the place it does detect stuff that is too far away or doesn't detect movements close by.... regardless of the sensitivity setting. The zones that you can setup do not work at all, it constantly detects my neighbours outside those zones and give me false alarms..... Car detection is useless as it constantly pings you that your own car is in the driveway. Not happy with it, not recommending. I would return this if i wouldn't be so busy and if i could have the boxes in good condition plus all the bits and pieces. I already drilled holes in my walls and fitted everything. I would have to go and borrow the ladder again and do all that hassle. I wish i would've listened to others and just install some wired high quality cameras. Edit2: the driveway camera completely disconnected from the app without me doing anything and it doesn't work anymore. I am abroad at the moment. My brother in law checked on it and i told him to get close to check if the green LED for detection lights up. Apparently that green LED doesn't so the camera does not work at all, doesn't even record on sd card if not connected. It is possible it broke down already...... i am not sure what happened. To remove the camera myself i have to confirm doing so. I am 100% i didn't remove it....

This is my fourth tapo camera and they're absolutely awesome. The camera looks sleek! The sound quality is clear. Comes with clear instructions in the box but also shows you mounting instructions through the app once it's connected to you're WiFi. The camera can be adjusted easily and also gives you the option to mount the camera on the solar panel, or have them separate with an extension cable included in the box. I think the extension is around three metres long. The alarm is quite loud and you can choose motion or just person detection which helps to stop pointless notifications from a fox or bird etc. Three different alarm sounds. Three different alarm styles: light, alarm or light & alarm. You can also set the times you want the alarm active: all day, 8am-8pm, 8pm-8am or custom time. The picture is clear and the battery seems great. It's been up for a week and hasn't lost any battery. Make sure you add the waterproof gasket into the camera before placing the solar panel wire in the back otherwise your camera will be broken. Very well made and seems to be durable. The tapo care subscription for cloud storage are well priced. I currently have the one camera for £2.99 per month but will be upgrading to the £7.99 per month one to cover my doorbell, this camera (TC82) and my plug in camera in the bedroom. My plug in living room one has an SD card in it. You also get 30 day free trials with each camera you buy. Tapo are always value for money!

My initial review is that this is brilliant. So easy to set up and install. Feels well built and I love the option to have it connected right over the camera with the in built lead or further away with the extension lead. The video quality at 2k is more than adequate for surveillance and the app is clear and concise. You just need an SD card to make sure you don’t have monthly fees to pay. Tapo stuff is generally a safe bet and this is no different.

I purchased two of these, one for the front, one for the rear as my ring cameras have fallen foul of planned obsolescence. There's been recent events where police have been asking for footage that we would have picked up when new, now, not fit for purpose. Enter, Tapo 460 with solar top up chargers. I was initially concerned about keeping it plugged in with water ingress....the kit provides rubber caps to prevent this. Really have thought of everything. Fitting is three screw holes, all fixtures and fittings provided. The camera has screw mounts but I've placed mine in it's magnetic holder which works great. Plenty strong enough. The setting up takes minutes without any problems. My rear camera is even connected to a WiFi extender and that also worked. Full colour IR allowed me to pick up the screws holding on a number plate of a car across the road from me. You don't need a subscription, all my data is stored on an SD card in the camera. Motion detection seems about right without a ton of false alarms and sound quality is crystal. I think the quality alone makes this great value for money. So happy I purchased these cams. No footage uploaded as I value my privacy.

L’ installation de cette caméra est vraiment simple et rapide. Je l’ai achetée avant de partir en vacances et après deux semaines, la batterie n’avait perdu que 3 %, donc c’est vraiment rassurant. La qualité d’image est très bonne, aussi bien de jour que de nuit, et le grand angle est un vrai plus. L’installation de l’application sur le téléphone est très simple aussi. Les détections fonctionnent bien et les notifications sont rapides. J’ai préféré un modèle sur batterie pour éviter les câbles et ne pas avoir à percer le mur de ma maison. Très satisfait de mon achat

Excellent product, love how easy it is to relocate the solar panel anyway with the supplied 4m cable, unlike some brands who charge you for extension cable.The app is very easy to navigate and works great with a micro sd card saving you on buying subscription like some other brands. Excellent product and highly recommend
