You will hear a jingle when that happens. There is an on/off button top left but I don't think it has the function as you can press any hutton and it comes on. My grandson loves this, we have had it for over a year, I think, and it is still using the original batteries. I got it for my 5 month old whi has become obsessed with the TV remote but always seems to turn the tv off if we give it her.So we got her her own. It's great. Hasnt broken yet and it has been thrown on the floor at least 40,000 since I got it last week.I have taken 1 star off just because it's fairly heavy. Probably not if you go off the age for the toy and give it to a 12 month old but just be aware if it's for a younger baby it could be a bit heavy. Mine has bopped herself in the face a few times now with it.
