The best wireless controller you will ever buy!
I game on pc often, but grew up playing console and find a lot more joy in gaming with a controller than mouse and keyboard. That doesn’t mean I’m not competitive, just that I have to try extra hard when I game since I’m at a slight disadvantage. For this reason I’ve tried multiple controllers and was a little skeptic about a wireless controller since they usually have input lag. Let me first answer a question I had before buying, yes it connects to your pc via usb. I thought about this before buying it, but you won’t need to use it that way since it’s 2.4Ghz feature means there’s NO input lag! This is great, but I was also concerned about the feel and quality of the controller. If you’re wondering too, It’s amazing! The controller is a tad on the smaller side for me since I have long fingers, but the design is so well made that it doesn’t affect gaming in the slightest. The buttons are an amazing quality and although well under the $100 mark it’s incredibly responsive and doesn’t feel like other controllers I’ve tried of around the same price tag (I thought I was downgrading from my power a fusion). I did have to play with my settings for a bit before finding my comfort zone because it has a different feel from other controllers I used, but I quickly realized that it was because it’s smoother and the buttons are flushed with the body of the controller which makes it feel like they’re almost not there. It’s incredibly functional and feels like your fingers glide through the buttons and analog sticks when you’re playing at the right settings. I think it’s an understatement to say it’s an amazing value for the money considering how high quality the controller feels and how they managed to make a wireless controller at this price point have pretty much no lag (none that I could notice at least, I know technically there’s some quintessimal of a second that’s basically imperceivable). I wish I could talk about the life span of it, but I wrote this review pretty early after getting it cause I want to spread the word on how much I’ve enjoyed using it since yesterday!! I just finished up an awesome gaming session and I’m genuinely impressed at this controller. If anything were to happen to it, I’d definitely buy again! GGs everyone!

The Best Controller for PC
This is my favorite controller for gaming on PC. Works with my Xbox and PC. The joysticks have been upgraded over the older Ultimate controller and are much smoother now. Battery life is great and it charges itself when you place it back on the dock. The buttons are tight and feel high quality. Works wirelessly with PC or wired with Xbox. Great controller!

Controller is defective! DO NOT BUY from 8BIT!
UPDATE TO ORIGINAL REVIEW: The replacement lasted shorter than the first. Used for two days a total of 6-ish hours and had many disconnects and reconnects only for the controller to completely fail today 7/25/25. Tried 10, yes 10, different cables, outside of the provided one it came with, but none fix the obvious controller/usb plug issue. This company is based out of China so you know the worksmanship will be shoddy because they ship these things in bulk and do no testing or QA whatsoever. 8Bitdo does not care about quality, it's quite evident. Trust me when I say, if you order this piece of crap, keep the box, wrapping, and all the materials because you will be requesting a refund within a week or maybe two if you're extra lucky. I really wish there was a better alternative out there. The Gamesir g7 has usb plug connection issues as well but hasn't permanently died on me yet. I am just trying to get away from stick drift, but maybe I will just have to deal with that rather than cheap chinese controllers from companies that probably have a bot generate their new business name once everyone starts to see their products are crap. DO NOT BUY THIS CRAP. I only used the controller for my Xbox Series X. It worked fine for two weeks and then in the middle of a game, it just stopped working. No input at all. I unplugged and also restarted my console, changed USB-C cords, confirmed said USB-C cords, that I tried as backup, worked fine on other products, but nothing fixed this controller. Controller was never dropped or altered and kept in stand as indicated it should be by directions. Clearly defective and clearly a poorly made chinese piece of crap. I am giving them one more shot as I am having amazon replace it. I do find it absorb that in the return process, after marking the item as defective, Amazon popped up do you want to keep the controller and we will refund you $14.99? I had to laugh at the fact they would think anyone would want 1/4 of the price of a a defective controller and you get to keep the controller. WOW! What a deal! /s I know the replacement will break as well, as you can just tell it is chinese crap by the name alone. When this next one breaks, I will make sure to leave another review on every electronics site they sell this crap to hopefully prevent them from scamming more people. AGAIN, DO NOT BUY 8BIT products. They are made extremely poor in a sweatshop in China. If the next one work for even two months, I will gladly remove this review, but I have gone through so many controllers it's getting ridiculous. The official controllers are great until stick drift. Then you have to go the chinese route to get controllers that have the hall sticks that stop stick drift but work for short period of time before they break because they just want your money and have no quality assurance testing. I am not even using the controller but maybe an hour or two tops every other day or so. 8Bit is absolutely garbage.

Excellent Wireless Controller for Mac
If you're like me and want a high quality wireless controller for a Mac, the "Ultimate 3-Mode Controller" is the model you want. It effortlessly connected to my Mac with bluetooth, and it works with the Ultimate Software app in the App Store to remap buttons. I much prefer this to a comparable Xbox controller for three reasons: 1. It's more comfortable in my hands, and the shape allows better access to all of the shoulder buttons with my normal grip. 2. The standard back paddle buttons are great. I set them to the center click of the two joysticks, and those inputs are now way easier to use. 3. The built-in rechargeable battery and dock is much more useful than an old-school battery compartment. The one feature that does irritate me about 8bitdo controller is the light bar on the bottom of the dock. It's always-on and way too bright at night. I suppose I could pry open the case and cut the wires, but it's also an easy fix with a strip of black electrical tape. Overall, it's a very good product that works well with apps like Geforce Now and OpenEmu for Mac gaming.

read the product description
this thing is great, another win for 8bitdo it seems most of the negative reviews are about lacking wireless capability on XB systems _ yes, it bears the logo (for that I'm conflicted, as other devices in this line are 8bitdo branded) but it works wonderfully with a SteamOS portable & 2.4 adapter docked at home, and well enough when switching to Bluetooth during travel. it also works with well with a docked Nintendo Switch. +the construction & detail are wonderful +/-though not having run a Windows diog on it, Hall sticks are very responsive, without drift, if not almost too sensitive +it's got some heft to it, and feels "quality" the same can be said about the force feedback +triggers are satisfying & responsive, with racers incredibly fun to play +bumpers have an incredibly satisfying "click" when pressed +mic mute is a switch instead of a button, and is non illuminated +/-if your hands are dry, it absolutely feels like it could shoot out of your hands, but thankfully doesn't. this is scary. -paddles aren't bindable (inactive, actually) on SteamOS with 2.4 adapter docked, but mostly functional on Bluetooth +/-Dpad is really great feeling, but diagonals (ie -> + ^ etc.) have sometimes been unregistered, noticeable in high intensity sidescrollers. probably in fighters, too. dreamy for grid-based strategy/RPGs though, or any game involving heavy item management. +battery life is spectacular it's great for the price AND you can use it in multiple platforms. get it in something dark. really, anything but stain-magnet white.

Great controller, just a bit small in the hands
Great controller, it works well on PC, connects easily, and the app helps control layouts and dead zones, it's slightly smaller than a series x controller, the back buttons are odd, I accidentally hit them all the time, they can be mapped to any button, but I have larger hands so it tends to hit things I don't want to hit, love the hall effects sticks and membrane buttons, nice clicky feel, wish it was wireless for Xbox, but on a gaming desk setup it's not really a problem

WIRELESS on Xbox S/X is possible - READ
This product was just released, and I imagine that some people will have this question so I wanted to post it here. THIS CONTROLLER WORKS WIRELESSLY ON Series S/X by adding one inexpensive adapter. Read on! I have XSX and 8bitdo says only WIRED play is possible on this system. Out of the box, this is true. Wired works phenomenally well, and the 8bitdo Xbox app allows for 3 profiles for button mapping, etc. Buttons, hall triggers and hall sticks all feel great and are well made. For WIRELESS play, use the Mayflash Magic-X adapter (I believe consensus was that Brook Wingman XB2 adapter was preferred, but due to some Microsoft shenanigans it only works on retro Xbox consoles now) - Wingman XB3 is said to be released Summer 2024 and is rumored to work with the newer consoles. WIRELESS PAIRING INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Turn on Xbox, plug Mayflash into any USB port, it'll begin flashing blue. Don't need to do anything else with the Mayflash. It detects that it's Xbox and the blue light flashes. 2. Plug in the small rectangular 8bitdo 2.4g USB adapter included with this controller (hidden on bottom of charging stand) into the female side of the Mayflash, it will begin blinking on the front. 3. On the back of controller, switch the 3-way toggle to 2.4g setting. Then press the Xbox button, the ring lights up. 4. Hold the pairing button on the top of controller until the Xbox button flashes rapidly. 5. After a few seconds, the Xbox button light will stay solid and you will see that the light on the 8bitdo adapter is solid now too. 6. Once connected, it works exactly like the official Xbox controller. And it stays paired with the adapter so whenever system is powered on just press the Xbox button, it vibrates to confirm. DOWNSIDES: 1. With wireless play, the 8bitdo app does not work (prompts you to plug in the controller), so no button mapping nor usage of the P1 and P2 paddles on back. Even if you do button mapping when wired, it does not stay for wireless. If you're in the majority of users, this won't matter much. 2. The wireless controller can turn off the system, but cannot turn it on. Mayflash has no power when console is off. I did try a powered USB hub and interestingly when the Mayflash port is switched to on, it wakes the system and the controller connects. Otherwise power button or another controller, and then press the Xbox button on 8bitdo controller and it connects, vibrates to confirm. TIPS: 1. If you're trying to pair and it's not working and the light on controller will not stop flashing, just hold the Xbox button until light goes out and try again. 2. The Bluetooth option on the controller does not work with the Xbox, even with the Mayflash (which has Bluetooth). 3. The Mayflash adapter will continue to blink blue, don't worry about it. Use rear USB if it's distracting. Hope this helps some of you on the fence. EDIT: details

Great PC Controller
I was looking for a controller that didn't come with stick drift practically out of the box or shortly thereafter as many of the first party Xbox ones unfortunately seem to these days, and this one seemed to fit the bill for PC use with its Hall-effect sticks. I had an original Xbox, so the jade colorway in particular grabbed my liking. I was impressed with it out of the box, nice tactile buttons and accurate sticks, comes with everything you need, USB cable, charging dock, even a 2.4 dongle. It also has a couple extra paddles on the back, programmable however you want. Setup was stupid simple, plugged in the dongle which ships in the bottom of the charging base after plugging in the base, turned it on, and it connected instantly, system immediately recognized it as an Xbox type controller. If you leave it on and set it on the base, it'll charge, then pop right back on when you pick it up from the base, no delay in connecting at all with the 2.4 dongle. The battery life seems excellent so far, and you've always got the wired backup if you really need it. Overall, unless you need to connect wirelessly to an Xbox which this apparently doesn't, I don't see why you'd ever go first party on a controller when this one, at this quality and price point exists. If they do others in this translucent plastic, maybe in other colors, I'd probably get another one for the vibes. The only thing I don't know is how it'll hold up long-term, so I guess I'll update if it breaks in a month, but there's nothing that seems to suggest it will.

5 star controller
I would give it 5 stars if it was possible to use it wireless on Xbox, but it cant, but i must say the controller feeling and everything feels like a 5 star controller, Ive always bought Microsoft controllers and got stick drift withing 3 to 6 months, but this one feels alot better way better. So i ordered the blue edition of this one that can ben used wireless. Definitely i want this kind of a controller that is wireless

Peak controller experience
I love it so much. especially the dock is so handy to use on pc. I just have to start a game and take the controller out of the dock. it instantly turns on and connects with out any latency issues or imput lags (2,4 GHz) And when you go on. a trip you can just take the dongle with you and connect it to your laptop One little detail I don't like (or still didn't fugure out) and its not even the controller's fault. Most games dont have in depth button mapping to assign the grip buttons. things like using tools in silksong. instead of up r1 you would just press the left button. Maybe they are able to build a macro feature to the 8bitdo software(similar to logitech G-Hub, or Razer Chroma)
