Metric AND Imperial, which for me is a requirement not met by many otherwise nice tapes (I sometimes create models to 3d print, and for this use case, metric is much easier to work with). Lock works fine, tension is good, numbering visibility is fine (although one side only), and tape itself is sufficiently stiff to measure the max 6ft distance. I wouldn't recommend this as a keychain tape, since the keychain connection is both unnecessarily long (imo) and flimsy. It is easy to remove with a pair of pliers if one wishes. They're a bit big/bulky for every day pocket carry. I have wound up with a (sadly, much smaller, non-locking) 3 ft tape that I have on me at all times. This didn't wind up being my perfect pocket tape, but given the value for cost, I don't regret the purchase at all. I've wound up scattering these through various drawers in my house so I can almost always find one quickly. I also used one as a decoy to keep my nicer tapes away from my youngest (who would proudly tell you that he's 5). It actually seems to be a pretty good choice for a kid's tape -- he hasn't broken it yet (it is pretty snappy though and could pinch or whip, so one would want to watch out).
