Needless to say in my experience other products don't live up to claims - they wear off quickly, smear really badly especially when the weather turns colder thus making these products unfit for purpose. However after reading reviews of Duxcoat and having watched a tv series on nano technologies I thought I'd give this product a shot esp. as the cost is relatively low - compatible with a new quality wiper blade and cheaper than other silicone blade based systems like PIAA.I have docked a star as I can only validate claims about product effectiveness over a few days of use. If this product lasts the 1 year it's claiming then I will up to a deserved 5 stars! UPDATE: its lasted the year - very pleased, updated to five stars.In terms of application from a first time user: the cleaning solution (a.k.a milk) worked great - removed silicone, grease and the rainx product (phew!) as described - required several cycles of application and removal so the film (powder layer that is created as the product dries) is unbroken. Preparation took me about 3 hours starting with an already clean car, I started by thoroughly cleaning the windscreen (and all other windows: all windows and lights on a 4 door A3 from this one kit!). Final stage: actual application of the two component mixed product took about 10 minutes per major window and the fluid has an immediate affect it itself beading once applied to an area so you can easily see where you've been.In use the smearing with this product is much less pronounced; still presents a small amount of smear behind the blades as they wipe but this is much more acceptable than equivalent products as mentioned and this could be the Bosch wiper blades that are about a year old and could need replacing. I'll update if this is the case.Once speed increases >30 - 40 MPH you can turn off your wipers (even in heavy rain). In my experience its lighter (very light) rain that presents more of a problem to RainX and products like these where there simply isn't enough water to bead naturally and you end up with a mist like symptom. Then you need to use wipers with little water and end up with severe smear. Duxcoat seems to suffer much less from this issue and I'm quite happy to live with this artefact whereas i'd choose not to use the other products again.If the 3-4 hour time investment seems like too much hassle then in the uk Halfords are offering this product as part of their winter prep range, its about Β£20 just for the windscreen though.Final thoughts: I have no association to this company and I'd be quite happy to recommend this to others. I'm already planning to do my wife's car and I'm also considering the other products from this company that offer similar protection to other surfaces.I also tried a bit of this product (leftovers) on my conservatory and I'm really pleased with the results there too!
