Something more complex that is really worth your money, time, committment, and energy? And of course something that guarantees fun, can give those thinking cells a work out, and as much community involvement as you like? ENTER CONQUEST! Even for a not so gung-ho a gamer such as myself, I found in Conquest of Arthenia a game with a complex strategy yet it's within the grasp of kids and adults alike. I have played this game with 11 year olds and I have seen them enjoy it as much as someone who is much older and with a more extensive gaming background. The different regions of the game allow for the challenge of movement, which definitely adds to the reality factor of the game. Though filled with possibilities of the wild (with spells and mounts), I really enjoy the realistic and logical flow of the game. It makes a lot of sense (and allows for a lot of fun) and I especially like the idea of being able to get two people started to play with one starter pack. As a used-to-be literacy teacher, I would be keen to use this game in my classrooms to appeal to different learning styles of kids. The art is worth taking a look at (and even staring at for a while!) The language of the game may be a little complex in the beginning, especially owing to the unique word choices. However, once I began to play the game, I realized that it was not only fun trying to learn new words through the game, but also its potential to give kids (and adults) a fun way to grow as readers and of course critical thinkers. As a trading card game, this game certainly portrays an important and fun feature of gaming in my opinion - community!
