THE BEST BOOK ON THE MARKET FOR HOME COOKED B.I.R. STANDARD CURRY
Steven the author of this book ask's at the end to give this book a review. I must make it clear that no amount of asking would achieve that with me unless I felt it warranted. and boy do I agree to give my opinion. ive been cooking Indian food, meals since 1978 at home for originally just me and my wife, then for our two blessing daughters who came along, as well as several requests from family to do some specials at weddings and Chrisentings, however I knew I was not atchieving the same taste as a good restaurant or takeaway, this book is invaluable to anyone serious about achieving that level of expertise. don't buy it then do an half hearted attempt at it then call the book for your failures. if you fallow at the pre-prep, and do all the cooked components as he says, you are guaranteed success by the bucket load! I can't praise his book enough.

Steven Heap has an amazing recipe collection, and various tips etc amount of video's on his Youtube channel - must be 1000 by now. Incredible achievement and a mixture of various recipes from his also many travels. Go to the channel and see for yourself. This book is all you need to get a very sound solid grounding in BIR curries, all the main starting points, information and guidance is succinctly right here. From preparation, starters, Tikka, Meat & Poultry, seafood, vegetarian and side dishes. staff curry, Roti', Rice, Biryani, chutneys There is quite a lot of preparation needed, but if it is BIR style you want - you do have to make some effort. Also, each recipe is not "set in stone". Experiment a little with the spices etc -perhaps add a little of that, less of that etc. That is why BIR at home is a such a creative hobby, There is no one perfect way that is going to create your local favourite BIR. Pictures are in black & white, but all the information you need is here, & the recipes are just right to get you started.

Making the seemingly complicated EASY.
If you have watched any of Stephen's YouTube videos, you'll be aware of his calm approach to cooking, this book adopts a similar approach with each dish explained. Whilst stir in sauces might have replaced the Vesta curry of the late 70s, you really can't beat the taste of home-cooked, takeaway tasting, Indian food. This book allows you to recreate a whole host of dishes and with a reasonably well stocked pantry, the confidence to start creating flavour profiles you didn't know you were love. Everyone with a fondness for Indian food should make the modest investment in this wonderfully curated, self published book. You can see the love that has gone in to it. And if you are already a beneficiary of his YouTube content, help support his generosity by buying a copy to support his channel. It's a perfect gift for any enthusiastic home-cook you might know as well. Once people get in to this style of cooking, they suddenly become very easy to shop for, which is a double-bonus! Thanks Stephen.

Disappointed.. Not great.
Spelling mistakes, mistakes in recipes(duplicate ingredients) and no mention of essential ingredients (kasuri methi) in the dishes that should have it in.
