Became intrigued with the characters and the stories surrounding their daily lives as veterinarians, etc. and looked into the book series. I'm only in book one and am hooked! The book is always different and more detailed and the movie industry takes a lot of liberties in the retelling of true stories. Yet, the PBS series has helped me imagine what the main characters (real people) must have been like. : ) The book(s) is such an easy read. I not only read at home but take the book with me when I know that I may be sitting for awhile waiting for someone or at the doctor's office. So glad that I got the books and will pass them on to my daughter. She loves animals. I'm not much of an animal lover yet have been so captivated by Mr. Herriot's memoirs...which make me laugh and bring tears to my eyes as well. It's not only a story about animals but about people, too. Such a good read!
