Since she has been in and out of shelters, she is used to being crated and does not try to escape. However, a kitten or cat (or puppy) not used to being confined might try to climb out and cause the playpen to collapse in on them. As you can see from the pictures, there is plenty of space for a small litter box, food, water, and her scratcher toy. I can't put a towel in there because she'll soak it, but she loves a piece of cardboard to lie on. I love how the top unzips so I can easily clean it and the litter box.
