Awesome grinder at a great price
I was not sure about this tool when I saw the price, wow was I wrong! It is quite its powerful. I thought the lower speed would take too long, again I was wrong, the slower speed gave me more control and leaves a better finished piece. Really happy with this purchase!

Arbors are 20mm NOT 3/4" - No CBN Wheels will fit
I bought this grinder to use for sharpening lathe tools. I waited for it to arrive before ordering some CBN wheels from woodturners wonders so that I could confirm the arbor size from the manual. The manual states that wheels made for a 3/4" arbor will fit, so that's what I ordered. When the CBN wheels arrived, they did not fit. I pulled out my calipers and discovered that the CBN wheels were exactly 3/4", while the arbors on this grinder are about 3/64ths of an inch bigger. I'm guessing the arbors are actually 20mm. Otherwise the grinder is great. But you might have some difficulty finding replacement wheels if you're not buying directly from Bucktool and you definitely can't outfit it with CBN wheels unless you're willing to have them machined.

Pleasantly Surprised
I think a fair place to start here is to say that my standards on tools are directly compared to Harbor Freight. I suppose I measure in HFE (Harbor Freight Equivalents). Really if Harbor Freight sells it, then I compare products I'm considering: if I should spend more to get more or am I just paying for the brand name? or can I buy this that is cheaper with no loss in quality? I do this because there is, in general, an appreciable difference between products for casual use and so price becomes the chief factor. Put another way, quality from Harbor Freight is fine and the question is if it is worth paying more. Anyways... I really like this bench grinder. It is easily on par and even surpasses on the HFE scale. It is more expensive, but is 1/2hp more powerful and is also 10in vs 8in. When I turned it on it even has a soft start and then surges power once the wheels are already turning at, what I would guess, 500rpm or so. No vibration and the wheels run true with no wobble at all. I have yet to mount it, but I am considering breaking the rules and just run it on a table while I finish building the workbench. It is heavy and heavy duty; arrived via box truck instead of regular delivery. It is also nice looking with its matte black paint and red stencil. Unboxing and assembly took a whole 10 minutes and only required a screwdriver.

A BEAST of a grinder!
This is a nice, well made grinder with some real guts behind it. Pretty quiet, too- given it's size. Nice and heavy, with a powerful 1 1/2 HP motor. Great for heavy grinding- It's hard to bog this motor down. Comes almost fully assembled, all you have to do is install the platforms and guards, and you're ready to grind!
