It appears that the design of the Mini 3 is such that in the event of a collision, this small “arm axis” assembly absorbs the energy and becomes the “failure point” - ultimately, this saves the entire front arm assembly from needing replacement, which would be a more costly replacement, AND a much more intensive repair. I’m a pretty passionate DIY/electronics tinkerer, so I already have a good magnifying glass/light to work with, as well as more robust tools. While it’s definitely a good value that the replacement part includes some tweezers and a tiny T5 Torx driver, PLEASE note the following: 1) Be extremely careful using the T5 Torx screwdriver. It is made of very cheap/bad metal, and it can strip itself OR the screw’s themselves VERY EASILY! If you have access to a superior-made set of tools, DEFINITELY use them! 2) Be cautious and deliberate when working with these tiny Torx screws. If you’re working in a relatively open workspace and you accidentally pop one of these screws off the end of the tweezers, there’s probably a zero percent chance you’ll ever find it! 3) Use a magnifying lamp/glass if possible. And literally tell yourself to GO SUPER SLOW. Like I said, if you pop one of those screws out and it goes flying, you’ll never find it! 4) Lastly, don’t be afraid to use a small piece of tape to hold the replacement axis in place before you try to screw it in place.
