To make sure, check the specs on lift and reach, but this thing is a beast. It is incredibly powerful, and will lift a full 1000 LBS at full extension, and 4000 lbs at minimum extension. There is no American car engine that weighs anywhere near 1000 lbs, so I think you are good to go. As you can see, at maximum extension the reach is very long, and it will lift quite high. Make sure you chain up the engine with as short a chain as possible with the hoist arm quite low over the engine.
