Addy-matic and the Toasterrific is a humorous, rhyming picture book about a girl who attempts to automate a simple task by building a complex, Rube Goldberg-esque chain reaction machine. Having to wake up early, Adeline (call her Addy, but a warning: just don't call her in the morning) is not the least bit in the mood to make her own food, so she decides to find a way to automate getting toast made on a plate. Using things around her, she builds a grand creation of perfect automation she calls the effortless Toasterrific!...but will it work? Young readers will feel empowered by the hero of the story, a young girl, who is faced with a dilemma: “How to automate the task of toasting bread?” Her passion for problem solving compels her to single-handedly design and build an ironically complicated machine called the Toasterrific . We got our book a week ago and it has been read everyday since!! It is so much fun to read and the ending makes us laugh every time!! We love Addy's imagination - it has got us talking about whether or not we could pull this off in our house - which is a great conversations, but then i remind them that i am not as cool as Addy's parents - so let's just read the book :) Love the glossary....nice touch!!! Great gift! We love this book for both our young boy and girl. Too many children’s books today are very lazy and don’t leave any room to make learning fun. Addy-matic encourages kids to problem solve in a creative way while engaging the grown up reading it with witty rhymes. We will definitely give this one to everyone in our children’s circle of friends at the many birthday parties we go to in kid land.

A child's mind is an exciting thing!
I found this a very amusing story with great illustrations. I can just imagine, Addy, the young creative little engineer, trying to figure out how to make the toaster work for her and being excited when it all came together! The glossary at the end adds a nice learning touch to an already joyful little book. Oh, the joy and excitement of reading and using the childlike imagination!
