## Description

About Plamp II Plamp II is an articulated arm used to store macro objects and other useful items. The large black orange clamp at one end attaches to the tripod leg, stain post, or other suitable fixed object. The other end (with a smaller grey clip) grasps the item you want to hold. Use a plamp to stabilize wind blown objects, adjust the position or angle of the object or move difficult leaves. Plamp can also be used to hold headlights and lens guards. One day in the field with a plamp and you will start to fully realize its potential. And now the newly designed Plamp II is even better. ## Questions & Answers

**Q: Please could someone confirm that the adjustable jaws for this are white not black?The old model has black jaws but I think now they changed to white?**
A: My (now quite old - perhaps 5-10 years?) plamp has a white inferior clamp.  The newer clamp (I have a PP400 as well) is all black and far superior but needs carefully closing to not damage delicate items but in so many ways is better.

**Q: Mine doesn't have the "elastomer band". Just opened plastic bag, nothing there. Is this usual?**
A: I don't know whether it´s usual or not but when I bought mine from Amazon it had a rubber band attached to keep the clamp opened. (You close the clamp with the set screw). My rubber band is approx. 1,5" long and its cross section is roughly 1/32" by 1/16".
Metric: 4cm long, 0.8m by 1.5mm cross section.
It can easily be replaced by another rubber band and it shall be attached to the small knob in front of the set screw, wound around the bottom part of the clamp and attached to the knob again.
I think that the cross section doesn't really matters, but the length of the rubber band does. If you have a longer band just fold it double and attach it as described above. The only thing that happens is that a thicker band keeps the clamp open with greater force.

**Q: Does this come with other attachments that i've seen advertised elswere, like the steak for putting in the ground and the extender section etc?**
A: No it does not. It comes with the adjustable jaws on one end and the spring clamp on the other, both attached.
Light weight but sturdy and adjustable so very useful, if a little expensive.

I had tried to save money by buying a cheaper product elsewhere. It was a mistake because the clamp was not substantial. I replaced it with another but it was very heavy and, although it was good for supporting heavier objects, it was not particularly gentle.This one is perfect; particularly for supporting plants when photographing them in breezy conditions. The clamp at one end is strong enough to clamp to an object such as a tripod leg or a branch while the one at the other end is gentle enough to hold delicate objects without damaging them yet powerful enough to support something like a small light. It is well made. I also bought one that can be placed in the ground with an integral spike. I would strongly recommend this clamp to photographers.

Clearly superior to lower priced similar items. Very strong strong and can hold very delicate objects such as flower stems. It does the job

I've used a cheaper version from a different manufacturer and wasn't impressed. At seven, that's seven!, times the price, I expected the Plamp to be faultless. So far it is. Well mad, stiff enough, and with good instructions. I wasn't impressed with the rubber band essentially used to tension the flower end. Fits my tripod and holds securely. At the price, though, I will hesitate to recommend it until I've used it more, particularly in the field.I've been using the Plamp for a couple of days, both in the 'field' and in my little studio (garage). It does what it does well, and I'm happy with my purchase. Outside, it's cumbersome, especially with smaller flowers. It doesn't hold a flower still enough for photostacking, but great for a reflector or additional light. In the studio, it's superb for positioning an object - flower or image aid - and it that's what you want it for, it's five star. For the rest of us, the price, and its cumbersome nature, knocks one star off. Conditionally recommended.
