Shearer Light Tapers x 70

I've used one so far and I'm pleased with it; it has plenty more life in it. It seems to burn in an average kind-of way; what more shoulld one expect? I can't see myself out-living the whole packed but, if I do, I will look to this seller to supply them

Wow! Well done Shearer! Tapers are not easy to find these days - I mentioned the same a while ago, and my daughter looked at me as though I had gone insane! I already have one of said tapers in use, and it works like a charm. Just need to acquire a taper holder/pot now. In truth, I much prefer using tapers for candles and fires than standard or the enormous matches one can acquire. A good number of 70 tapers from Shearer, and not a single one broken on delivery. Perhaps it is just me, but using a taper at Christmas time just feels right, proper and traditional. Highly recommended.

Arrived on time, well priced good quality and well packaged. Do a great job at lighting candles etc.

they are thin

These tapers burn well, but they're not exactly multi-purpose. I think they are more suitable for outdoor use, to light a barbecue or an incinerator and such like. I bought them for indoor use, to light the gas fire and the grill and oven, but they melt and drip wax too much for such use. They do also tend to burn down very quickly.

We need these each time we light our 300 candles in our church for our carol and Christmas services. PROS • Excellent value for money, you get a good quantity • Sensible length allows easy fixing • Good size flame makes lighting other candles much quicker and easier • Reasonable strength, don’t snap unless mistreated • Minimum dripping CONS • Unless treated carefully, they can snap fairly easily if knocked, dropped, etc. Each year we use these to light our church candles, by attaching them with tape to the end of bamboo canes. The claimed burn time is 30 minutes, but I guess that would be vertical and left alone. Ours get held mostly at a steep angle, and also to light candles means they burn down quicker, but never shorter than 20 minutes. If one were to fracture/break, then holding it straight then dripping some melted wax around the break makes an ideal fix. Unused as yet but I know it'll do the job.

Bought these for lighting fireworks on bonfire night and for later use lighting T lights/candles in jars where it is easy to burn your fingers if you just use a cigarette lighter. They work but are a bit flimsy so easy to break as you take them out of the box.
